When I was a pre-teen and thought everyone was also named Susan, I wanted to be called Penelope as no one else in my small world had that name and I had seen it in a book and loved it. Alas this did not come to be but since then I have kept that name in mind for something or someone special in my life. Having only produced a son I couldn’t use that name with him.
While looking for a cardi to knit I could only find a short sleeve here and a shawl collar there but nothing with all my favorite essentials. This special sweater is now the recipient of the long held name since it contains all the knitting elements I favor. It is a design that will not go out of style and looks good on thin as well as full figured women.
Knit from the bottom up, short row short sleeves, short row shawl collar, simple bottom band of double moss stitch. Knit in one piece to the underarms. Easy decreases along the front edges. No buttons, just an optional magnetic closure.
