All measurements are taken unstretched, after blocking.
Choose a finished circumference that allows for 10–20% (2–5” / 5–12.5cm, depending on size) of negative ease, depending on personal preference.

22 stitches over 4” / 10cm in stockinette, with larger needles, after blocking.
A different gauge will affect finished measurements and yardage requirements.
Suggested needles: 4mm (US 6), or size needed to obtain above listed gauge; AND 3.5mm (US 4), or two sizes smaller than size needed to obtain gauge, in preferred style for working in the round.

Green hat shown in: Fidley Dyeworks SW Merino DK (100% superwash merino; plied; 230y / 210m per 100g) using Oliver.
Speckled hat shown in: Midknit Cravings Comfort Sport DK (85% superwash merino; plied; 245y / 225m per 100g) using Tapas Bar.
