Introducing Penny the Poodle, a midcentury bottle cozy and matching placemat set!

Penny is made from two components: a main body with sweet little pom poms for arms and legs, and a detachable head so you can pour from the beverage encased inside! The pattern is made to fit a Bordeaux-style bottle (this is your basic wine bottle shape) but is flexible enough that it will fit over most 750 ml bottles, alcoholic or otherwise! Both items are worked in a DK weight, so it is a fairly fast and very entertaining knit from start to finish.

The placemat design is created from a mosaic stitch pattern, so there is no colorwork or yarn-carrying required! The stitch pattern is worked first, and then all edges are picked up and joined in the round to create the border.

These sweet poodle bottle cozies actually existed in the 1950s-1970s, so it is an excellent way to add some midcentury charm to your kitchen or bar cart! The pattern includes a full photo tutorial on how to assemble Penny and embroider the face.
