The Pennyroyal Kimono is designed as an oversized one size kimono that fits most people. The kimono should be roomy so that it can easily be wrapped around you like a warm hug. The pattern also includes instructions on how to adjust the length, width, and sleeve size (width and length). You can customize this kimono even further and make a poncho / ruana wrap by not sewing the sides together, and skip the sleeves.

The kimono’s back and front pieces are crocheted in one piece and then sewn together at the sides. Holes are left at the top for the sleeves and the sleeves are then crocheted along the edges of the armholes. I would say this pattern is easy/intermediate using standard stitches and no advanced techniques.

Yarn and Size:

To make my Pennyroyal Kimono I used 12 skeins of Scheepjes Woolwise (100% Recycled Superwash Merino wool, 100g = 200m), color 748 Deep Sea.

If you have the same crochet tension as the pattern indicates, the measurements will be: width 95cm, length 85cm.
