This crochet Pentagon Ball is a fun rattle ball for babies and children.
It’s made in 100% cotton and lined with fabric inside to make it safer to play with (and chew) it!

The ball is made in 3 parts:
– First, we’ll crochet the solid pentagons;
– Then, we’ll sew the lining for the ball, which will also prevent the stuffing from peeking through the stitches;
– Finally, we’ll assemble the ball.

This pattern is written in US terms

MATERIALS
– 3.5-mm (E/4 US, 9 UK) Crochet Hook
– DK (3, Light) Weight Yarn
– Tapestry Needle
For Stuffing & Lining:
– Sewing Machine
– Fabric, Thread
– Stuffing
– Rattle Ball
– Compass, Ruler, Pencil, and Paper to draw your own pentagon pattern

YARN
I used Hobbii Rainbow Cotton 8/6 (115 yds / 105 m per 50 g) in the following colors and amounts:

For the large ball:
A – Pastel Pink (43) – 41.6 yds (38 m)
B – Rose (44) – 41.6 yds (38 m)
C – Pastel Purple (41) – 41.6 yds (38 m)
D – Baby Blue (32) – 41.6 yds (38 m)
E – Natural White (2) – 9.2 yds (8.4 m)

For the small ball:
A – Baby Blue (32) – 26.2 yds (24 m)
B – Dusty Light Green (75) – 26.2 yds (24 m)
C – Pastel Yellow (53) – 26.2 yds (24 m)
D – Peach (49) – 26.2 yds (24 m)
E – Natural White (2) – 9.2 yds (8.4 m)

SIZE
– Large Ball – 6.5” (16.5 cm) in diameter
– Small Ball – 5.5” (14 cm) in diameter

GAUGE
Gauge is not crucial for this project.
