This lovely pattern adds a few special attributes to make it pop. The fact that the people appear to hold hands all around the hat helps it appear as hands around the world.

The pattern is written as one size but does have stretch. As written, the hat is around 20 inches in circumference and 9.5 inches in length. The mittens are around 7 inches in circumference and 10 inches in length. Length is variable.

This hat and mitten set was knit using Aran weight yarn (8wpi). If you use another weight yarn (eg. worsted) or are a tight knitter when doing stranded knitting, please make adjustments perhaps by moving up in needle size.

The hat and mittens were made using two colours. Make sure to attach any floats along the back of the hat. It is an easy chart to follow and the hat can be completed relatively quickly. Included are written instructions for making a Latvian braid as well as a video. You can alternatively also leave out the braid if you wish.
