Perennially Peeled Banana
This pattern is for a partially peeled banana, an easy and satisfying two-hour project. This is a beginner-friendly project that calls for basic knitting technique, including a short row segment. Worked in five pieces and stitched together, the finished object measures about 6” in length.
The project calls for US 6 needles, but different size needles and yarn can be substituted. Gauge is not important for this project so long as the yarn used for the outer peel is bulky relative to the cream color used for the actual fruit and the peel’s inner lining.
Basic knitting technique, with simple increases, decreases, and seaming. Two of the rows call for wrapping and turning. The instructions call for seaming pieces together. The ‘edible’ piece can be worked in the round.
Pair US 6 / 4.00 mm knitting needles
Tapestry, Embroidery needles
6 g Yellow Bulky or Aran Wt. yarn
4 g Cream Sport or Worsted Wt. yarn
1 g Brown Aran weight yarn
Poly-fill for stuffing
