This is an easy chart for a small picture that can be used as:

  • Part of a bag, scarf, vest.
  • A pillow case.
  • And my favorite - a knitted picture or a greeting card ( graduation, congratulation, encouragement, get well, I’m proud of you, and so on). It makes a great gift that delights everybody.

The picture is knitted sideways, which makes it into an easy knit of about 2 hours. It can be done in Intarsia or stranding (or a mixture of the two).

Use your choice of different colors, or one color for the whole hand. The picture is already distorted, so do not worry about gauge, just knit and have fun.

Size: 4”x6” / 10x15cm, but don’t worry about it.
A lot can be adjusted and changed after the picture is done
(like changing to 5x7 or mounting without framing).
The knitting can be any size.

Yarn: fine (sport/baby), about 30y background and 20y for the hand, or any yarn and needles you wish to use.
For super fine yarn (sock/fingering), add few sts on both sides of the chart and few rows, if needed.

Needles: # 4US / 3.5mm. Again - feel free to use ANY size needles and ANY yarn you have.

Gauge: 35 sts = 6”/15cm, and 28 rows = 4”/10cm. But:
Since this is a very small picture it’s faster to just start knitting and see the first picture as a gauge piece.

Instructions include a hand colored chart and a full photo how to mount & frame. Read before you print as you may want to print only the chart
