Perfect Couple
Somehow we always seem to loose a pair (or half a pair!) of mittens in my family, and with colder evenings and winter approaching at fast speed I felt the urge of making a new couple.
And this is the PERFECT couple! The great advantage is that the cuffs really make the mittens stay in place.
It was a fun knit - with a cable pattern that is easy memorized after a couple of repeats. Thanks to the cables and twisted stiches I knitted them up really fast - wanting to make one more turn, then one more….
The construction is easy: you make the cuffs lengthwise, then they are seamed together and stiches are picked up along the edge. The back and palm of hand is knitted bottom-up and in the round.
I added the buttonhole-strap for fun - I think it looks great - but this is of course optional!
I used Smart from Sandnes Garn for my mittens. You can use about any wool as long as you respect the gauge.
And I’m really pleased with the result; no more chilly evening walks with the dogs without them!
