Make it on a large Knifty Knitter adult hat loom using Wool-ease  Thick and Quick, Jiffy Thick and Quick or a comparable yarn
OR
Make it on a loom with 1” spacing between pegs using Lion Brand Big  or comparable yarn. If no super bulky loom is available, every other  peg of a smaller gauge may be used to achieve 1” spacing. Each of the main panels may be knitted in 2 strips and joined  beneath the cable if necessary

MAKING THE SUPER BULKY PONCHO WITH “BIG” YARN  6 skeins required. Flat stitch is used instead of e-wrapped stitch. Flat stitch is made  by bringing the yarn behind the peg and lifting the old stitch over  the yarn as it lays there. The resulting stitch is not twisted and  therefore is flatter, lighter and identical to hand knit stockinet. This  is preferable because “Big” already makes a very thick fabric. Gauge is approximately 1.3 stitches and 2 rows per inch.
MAKING THE BULKY PONCHO WITH THICK AND QUICK YARN  8 skeins required. The usual e-wrapped stitch is suggested. If knitting on the large hat loom, knit back and forth, rather than  round and round so that a flat panel is formed. Gauge is approximately 2 stitches and 3 rows per inch.
