Machine knit hat utilizing a novel construction method which produces a smoothly round stockinette hat crown by means of short rows. No increases or decreases are necessary.

Passap terminology is used. However, the pattern is adaptable to other standard gauge knitting machines.

This method of crown shaping can be incorporated into any circularly knit hat design desired, either in top-down or bottom-up construction, in any yarn or gauge. Links are provided in the pattern for those who desire further information about this technique.

Familiarity with short-row heel or toe-up sock construction may be helpful.
