Perforated Stripe Cowl
When Caron Cakes first hit the market in the late summer of 2016, I was excited by all of the unusual color options and enthusiastically purchased a number of single cakes in different colors. After working with it, I became even more inspired- the cost and yardage was really good, and the yarn was soft and easy to work with. I challenged myself to create a ‘1 cake’ pattern which softened the quick color changes slightly, without cutting the yarn.
This cowl requires some independent assessment, but is very suitable for beginners to crochet. For experienced crocheters this is a great ‘TV’ project, and a quick last-minute gift idea. For me, making the cowl took only a few hours, and I was motivated to complete it by always looking forward to the next color change.
The cowl should fit most adults and teens. The cowl measures approx 102cm (approx 43 inches) before joining the seam, and fits snugly if wrapped twice. Gauge is not important for this project, but could affect the size of the finished cowl.
