Perilla
The Perilla scarf a is a rectangular scarf/stole that is worked from two ends and grafted together in the center. Its patterning makes the scarf width easily adjustable so you can make anything from a thin scarf to a wide stole using the same pattern. It also allows the knitter more flexibility in choosing the yarn, because anything from a thin lace-weight to super bulky yarn could be used.
The Perilla Scarf is inspired by the Perilla mint plant. Mint comes in many different forms, and was originally brought to North America by Asian immigrants. The plant spread quickly and can now be found in sunny, open fields, along roads and in wooded areas. The purple leaves of the Perilla plant are a decorative addition to any garden.
