Perleograde
ERRATA: Rows 99 – 106 SHOULD READ: Repeat rows 95-98 two more times. 331 sts
This pattern was originally designed for the Bilby Spinners and Knitters Retreat which took place in Western Australia in the Autumn of 2017. I had the opportunity to design an exclusive pattern with Dingo Dyeworks Yarn and Charmaine Pedrick, who organized the event.
Meteor showers in the evening are an enjoyable sight for me. The Perseids and the Leonids are among the most prevalent in the night sky. As an ode to meteor showers, I designed PERLEOGRADE. I used Dingo Dye Works yarn in the Fair Dinkum base, as well as a set of their Dingo Tails gradient packs. A half crescent shape combines garter stitch, slip stitches, stripes, and variations of the star stitch, so the project looks as if you are wearing the night sky on your own shoulders! The project is also great for your little leftover minis from your past projects, so stash bust using your favorite colors and create your own piece of art!
MATERIALS:
One skein of Dingo Dye Works Fair Dinkum (100% Ultrafine Merino. 437 yards.) – Colorway: Pinky. 200 yards used.
One pack of Dingo Dye Works Fair Dinkum Dingo Tails Gradient Set (100% Ultrafine Merino. 54 yards per mini-skein.) – Colorway: A Home Among The Gum Trees.
US 4 60” circular needle.
Tapestry needle.
GAUGE AND MEASUREMENTS:
61” in wingspan and 15” from cast on to deepest point.
About 24 sts and 30 rows every 4” in garter stitch, blocked.
PATTERN NOTES: Read the pattern before beginning to familiarize yourself with the project. In the pattern, each mini skein is marked as GC (gradient color) and follows GC1, GC2, etc., with the first skein being the lightest color in your gradient set (or darker, if you prefer to switch the order). The full skein is marked as MC (main color). Check your gauge so you do not run out of any of the mini skeins. If you do, you may switch to a new color. The top edge of the shawl will be tight, so it is recommended that you knit the first and last three stitches of each row with loose tension.
