Perpetual Bliss Cardigan
Everyone needs a warm cardigan. This one is made of soft, light sportweight alpaca. Sinuous Bavarian twisted-stitch patterns lend interest to cuffs and front while remaining simple enough that they are not obscured by the yarn’s halo. The body and sleeves are worked in 1x1 ribbing for a silhouette that gives stretchiness to the alpaca yarn and skims your curves without revealing too much. Waist shaping is included in the pattern, but it may be omitted by the knitter if desired. Options are provided for button and snap closures. The twisted-stitch motif used for the button band makes spacing easy, so no calculations are required. Applied I-cord along fronts and cuffs prevents edges from rolling.
The sweater is knit in pieces from the bottom up, then seamed. Attached I-cord is worked around the neck after seaming.
Skills required: Knitted C/O, knit, purl, twisted stitches, increasing, decreasing, reading charts, applied I-cord
edging. (A brief explanation of applied I-cord is include in the pattern, but there are many fine photo and video tutorials available on the Internet, which can be found by search
ing for “attached i-cord.”)
The sweater shown in the photos was knit in Plymouth Yarns / Indiecita 3 Ply Sport, color 284. Any of the yarns listed above could be substituted.
