This shawl is knit as a half-circle, representing the sky above. The colorway, Night Sky, is carefully hand painted by Lucky Violet Color Co fine artists to convey the beauty of a deep night sky filled with stars and a wee bit of moon light. The colorways created for this project and the design are meant to celebrate the annual Perseid Meteor Shower seen in mid-August.

The original Perseid Meteor Shower Shawl was designed to be knit with two colorways, one was called “Comets”. The Comets colorway was a limited time colorway hand painted in the summer of 2016; it is no longer available.

This colorway coordinates with Night Sky and with the addition of white areas that will appear as stars in your finished shawl. The original featured “Shooting Stars” that were possible because of the way we painted the original Comets colorway. Starry Night Sky will not create the long shooting star tails. Using Starry Night Sky you will have some shorter shooting star tails and some stars without tails. It will be beautiful and will still be a celebration of the beautiful night sky.
