About the Persephone Pullover
The Persephone Pullover is inspired by Persephone, the Greek goddess of the harvest, whose story is central in Greek mythology. She is the daughter of Demeter, also a goddess of the harvest and the earth. Persephone’s most well-known story tells how Hades enchanted her and took her to the underworld. However, through compromise, she was allowed to spend six months above ground and six months below, symbolizing the changing of the seasons in Greek myth. While this sweater doesn’t claim to change the seasons, it’s suitable for winter, fall, and spring, and possibly even summer depending on your yarn choice. The delicate leaf motifs remind me of the shifting seasons and the passing of time, which inspired its name, Persephone.
This sweater is knitted from the top down using DK weight yarn. For this version, I used Knitting for Olive Merino and Mohair, but any fingering and lace weight yarn, or DK and sport weight yarns that match the gauge, will work beautifully. The pullover begins at the shoulders, which are knitted separately before being joined and worked downward. I hope you enjoy creating this pattern.

Size Guide
The Persephone Pullover is designed with an ease ranging from roughly 8 to -9. The first 5 sizes overlap, and this requires you to choose your preferred size for yourself. If you very much would like a fitted garment, like the one you see on the front page, I recommend knitting with a minimum of -3 negative ease. But depending on whether you prefer a more fitted blouse or a loose-fitting garment, you can choose the specific size for you.
I knitted the Persephone pullover in a size 3 for myself. I have a bust circumference of 8 cm, which gave me an ease of -4 cm. I am also knitting size 3 for my mom who has a chest measurement of 88 and will have an ease of 5 cm.
