The Persephone Square is a free 12” afghan square that I designed specifically for the 2019 Moogly CAL. This square uses fun twists with stitches placed in different positions than where you would normally crochet.
YARN
Red Heart with Love
Used in sample: Pewter, Jadeite and Papaya
MATERIALS
J/6.0mm hook- I used this gorgeous Limited Edition Alpha Swirl from Furls Crochet
Yarn needle

ch(s) - chain(s), sc - single crochet, dc - double crochet, st(s) - stitch(es), RS - right side,
SPECIAL STITCHES

If working in rows, turn work. If working in rounds spin hook completely around, making a twist in the loop. Pull up a loop to the height of a normal dc. YO with the loop so that the hook is behind the loop. Insert the hook into the first st of row. Complete a normal dc (YO and draw through st (3 loops on hook). YO and draw through first two loops on hook. YO and draw through last two loops on hook).
3 Double Crochet Cluster
Yarn over (YO), insert hook in stitch or space, YO, pull through, YO and pull through first two loops on hook, YO, insert hook back into same stitch or space, YO, pull through, YO and pull through all four loops on hook, ch 1, repeat from * two times more
NOTES
- Ch 1 is not considered the first st
- All chains are not counted in stitch counts
