Perseverance
I HAVE DECIDED TO CAP THE PRICE OF THIS PATTERN AT $1. WE ALL NEED A LITTLE SOMETHING TO SMILE ABOUT. Stay safe. Stay strong.
I enjoyed knitting the last dk shawl, “Calm”, so much that I decided to make this a series of three shawls. These crescent shawls acknowledge the virtues needed at this particular moment in our lives. But, they are needed not just now but throughout our lives in so many different ways at so many different times. Life can be cruel, but it can also be wonderful and kind. So persevere through the bad and difficult times to get to the other side and enjoy the beauty again.
This shawl is large enough to wrap around and cuddle up in. I used an intense color on this one to signify the determination needed to do what is required at times like this. But, it would be lovely in a soft, comforting color also. The luxurious yarn I chose is perfect for this crescent shawl. It has alpaca for softness and wool for durability. Very soft and yummy to work with. You can always count on Rowan for quality yarns.
As in my last shawl, there are turns, but NO WRAPS! Yep, this takes a lot of the scariness out of knitting this project. Since it has lots of (easy!) lace, the spaces left by the lack of wraps are no big deal here. You’re casting on with a size US 10/6mm 32” circular and then immediately changing to size US 9/5.5mm needle. It works up quickly on dk yarn and was a pleasure to work.
Again, I have included the chart for those chart-lovers out there (I’m one of you!). For those of you new to knitting or who enjoy reading and knitting the lace, I have included written directions also! I’m trying to help decrease stress any way I can!
