Persian Bull Mittens
This pattern is available
for $5.95.
Winged bulls appear on many artifacts from the ancient Persian empire. Often, they are magnificently carved guardian symbols, designed to protect important buildings.
The bull figures striding proudly across these mittens are inspired by one such figure from the magnificent tile work of the Apadana Palace, in ancient Susa. The columns gracing the palms evoke a side panel of the ancient Ishtar Gate, the eighth gate of the inner city of Babylon. Palmettes, a common motif in the art of the ancient world, encircle the cuffs.
ERRATA: When beginning the large charts, omit one increase, so that you will start the large charts with 91 sts instead of 92.
