This triangle shawl can be knit kerchief-sized, or customized into a larger wrap with added repeats. The top-down pattern motif is easy and interesting to work! The eyelets also lend well to making this a self-securing shawlette—just add buttons sized to fit to one of the corners.

The sample uses my own handspun—a slightly thick-and-thin sportweight singles yarn in merino wool with a little linen or hemp.

Materials:

  • 330-650 yards soft sportweight wool yarn
  • 1 24+“circular needle in US5-6/3.75-4.0mm, or size needed for gauge.
  • Tapestry needle
  • removable stitch marker(s)
  • Optional: 1-3 ⅞“ buttons (plus thread, and needle, if needed)

Measurements:
As shown, this mini-shawl measures about 16.5”/42cm deep and 42”/1.06m across the wingspan.
