This simple, but personal baby blanket is very quick and easy to knit up. it is suitable for a beginner, but includes some colourwork over the central letter, which is a great way of having a go at colour work for the first time.

I’ve given instructions for two types of border, one in the round with mitred corners, or a simpler straight garter stitch edge. Both look lovely.

The pattern includes charts for all 26 letters of the alphabet.

The colourway shown uses 5 skiens of yarn (3 of the main colour and 1 each of the others) but you can just use 4 skeins if you want the border and letter to be the same colour.
