Personalised Fairisle Forest Christmas Stocking
This fairisle Christmas stocking is knitted cuff down in the round with a short row heel and wedge toe, which is grafted using Kitchener Stitch. The stocking features a winter forest scene and traditional fairisle snowflake design. The thick double cuff gives a sturdy edge with a high quality feel and the stocking can be personalised with a name using duplicate stitch (alphabet charts included in pattern). The stocking is finished with a strong hanging loop for hanging on the mantlepiece on Christmas Eve.
The fairisle designs are repeated on the rear of the stocking, so it can be hung either way around, and the winter forest scene is repeated in reverse on the back so that the trees wrap around the sides of the stocking.
The pattern is very detailed and features guidance on colourwork and photo tutorials for the provisional crochet cast-on, duplicate stitch and joining the double cuff.
Each stocking measures approximately 48cm (19 inches) from cuff to toe, not including the hanging loop, and the leg is approximately 15cm (6 inches) wide measured flat.
