About this pattern
Peru hat is knit bottom up in the round with a folded brim for extra warmth. All-over slip-stitch rib makes it absolutely unisex, and also ensures snug fit on the head. Bulky-weight yarn makes it a super-speedy knit, you can easily whip one up in 1 evening!

This hat has a matching snood, buy them as a set to get a 30% discount!

This pattern includes 2 types of instructions:
• Written pattern for 4 sizes in pattern gauge;
• Recipe to calculate for a different gauge (within 15-19 sts range) / head circumference.

4 teen/adult sizes: XS (S, M, L) for head circumference 52 (54, 57, 60) cm/20.5 (21.25, 22.5, 23.5)” – all sizes written out with two types of fit: fitted and slightly looser – depending on your preference.

Yarn
You will need ~90 (115, 140, 165)m / 100 (125, 155, 180) yds of bulky weight (~100m/110yds per 100g/3.5oz) yarn with high wool content (can be merino / alpaca / any other animal fiber). For best stitch definition, suggest using single-ply yarns.
Original yarn: Rainbow Bird ‘Rainbow Wool XS’
My testers have used:
• Infinity Design ‘Tundra’
• Lana Grossa ‘Feltro’
• Quince & Co ‘Puffin’
• Sandnes Garn ‘Easy’ (discontinued)

Needles: 7 mm/ (between US 10.5 and 11) circular needles on ~40cm/16” cable + DPNs or circulars on a longer cable for the crown

Gauge: 16 sts by 20-22 rounds per 10cm/4” square in main print (slip-stitch rib) after wet-blocking unstretched. You can also work with your own gauge within 15-19 sts range (for tighter gauge you would need different ease).

Notions
• Tape measure and (gauge) ruler
• Stitch marker
• Tapestry needle
• Scissors
• Row counter (optional)

Required skills: classic long-tail cast on, knitting, purling, slipping, basic decreases (k2tog, ssk)
