The Peruvian Sari Silk Ribbon Jacket is inspired by traditional woven garments from South America. There is one size given and because of the unusual structure of the jacket, the width of that size will suit most people. Sizing instructions included in the pattern. Knit with Sari Ribbon, approximately 1/2 inch wide stripes of fabric that have been sewn together in random color sequences, Each garment is unique. Using Size 35(US) needles creates an open fabric at a encouragingly rapid pace though such large needles can feel a bit awkward at first. the knitting and the construction are simple and make this a good project for even newer knitters. Before being put together, the pieces of the garment are steam blocked. This is an absolutely necessary and special technique that really “creates the fabric” and gives the garment it’s shaping and drape. You won’t believe it until you try it! Detailed instructions for the unique blocking and finishing techniques are included in the pattern.
