I wanted to create a table runner design that depicted an element found in nature. Something that allows the crocheter the freedom to change up the colours to depict different seasons.

In my version of the PETAL POP TABLE RUNNER I opted for colours that scream summer, with its vibrant shades of yellow, fuschia and green.

This is the kind of design that can be made multiple times so that you have a table runner for every season; pretty pastels for Spring, warm earthy shades of reds, oranges and browns for Autumn and some icy blues for Winter.

I wanted the transition between the Col A sections to be smooth. In order to achieve that, I used Front and Back Post Double Crochets in those rows. The method is clearly explained and is only used in the rows where the colour change for the main colour occurs. In the case of my sample, this amounted to 4 rows.

The design has a pattern repeat which allows you to customise the length. The pattern repeats are indicated in the pattern.

In my version of the table runner I worked 3 pattern repeats. Together with the 2 end sections my completed tablerunner measures 37 cm x 126 cm (15 in x 50 in)

Whenever I design a table runner pattern, I always see how I can compliment it with a placemat set. Normally those are sold as stand alone patterns. However, for the Petal Pop Table Runner I have added a BONUS placemat pattern to the file download.

As you will see from the pictures, I created a placemat in each of the colours used in the table runner.

This is a design that allows you to truly play with colourways in order to create table decor that suits your taste.

Yarn usage for the Table Runner
I used Alize Diva Silky Effect

Col A: - I used multiple colours for Col A
Yellow - 483 m (529 yds)
Green - 322 m (353 yds)
Fuschia / Pink - 157.5 m (172 yds)

Col B:
White - 875.5 m (937 yds)

You could ofcourse use only 1 colour for Col A in which case you would need 962.5 m (1054 yds)

Col B:
White - 199.5 m (219 yds)
