Can you smell the rain? Take a stroll through the forest with Petrichor.

Petrichor is a relaxed, oversized cardigan worked with two colours. There’s a bit of colourwork on the waist and sleeves that switches the main colour for the bottom of the cardigan. The cardigan is worked seamlessly top down with drop-shoulder construction and a V-neck. Most of the cardigan is worked flat, but there is a steek just for the colourwork section. As a special little fitting detail the back of the neck is also shaped with a tiny scoop, so it doesn’t rise up on the neck after adding the buttonband in.

While the design is calculated with a feminine size chart, with straight body, loose fit and several sleeve length options it can easily be worn unisex. Just choose the size that best corresponds to the intended wearer’s body with both body circumference and sleeve measurements.

The sweater is meant to be worn with positive ease. Choose a size with approx. 10 ” / 25 cm ease at the bust circumference.

NOTE: I was not able to find test knitters for the last 3 sizes but would be happy to accept some. If you would like to receive this pattern for testing one of those sizes, send me a PM and we’ll figure out a timeline! Test knitters will receive an additional pattern as a thank you for completing the test.

Pirtin Kehräämö Karstalanka 140 TEX x 3 (100 % Finnish wool, 240 m / 100 g) or other DK weight yarn. Shown in colours Black (MC) and Marled Grey (CC).

3-3-3-3 (4-4-4-4) 4-4-5-5 skeins of MC, 2-3-3-3 (3-3-3-3) 3-4-4-4 skeins of CC.

MC: 670-690-710-750 (785-805-820-880) 920-975-1020-1060 yards / 605-625-645-680 (710-730-745-800) 835-885-925-960 meters.

Needles:
4 mm (US 6) and 3,75 mm (US 5) - 40 “ / 100 cm circular needle. Adjust needle size if necessary to obtain the right gauge for each section.

Gauge:
20 sts x 32 rnds = 4 x 4 ” / 10 x 10 cm in stockinette and colourwork worked flat (after blocking).
