Pevensie
*** Please note, I will no longer be providing pattern support now that I have made my patterns available for free. ***
My husband likes to joke that Canada is much like C. S. Lewis’ magical land of Narnia where it’s always winter, but never Christmas. Ironically, we live in the only part of Canada where it rarely snows, but he persists. When I began to design this coat for our daughter, I wanted it to be warm enough for the harsh, Narnian winters we supposedly suffer. It is inspired by the Pevensie children, exploring the Narnian forests for the first time in their oversized fur coats.
The Pevensie coat knits up quickly, thanks to a bulky yarn that keeps out the chill on a winter day. A wide collar, A-line shaping, oversized buttons, and a colourwork border add vintage charm. Magnetic snaps, cleverly hidden, make dressing a breeze and stay put better than traditional button holes.
