Phiby
It’s still very cold here in Germany and I like to wear warm shawls in the office and outside walking Buddy.
Knitting with bigger needles is so rewarding, isn’t it?
Believe it or not, this shawl took more time to dry than it took me to knit it.
Phiby is a crescent shawl worked top down.
Squishy garter stitch paired with sections of lace.
The garter border is formed with short rows to add more depth.
Material
The shawl requires approx. 500 gr (500 yds / 455 m) of Bulky Weight Yarn
The sample shown used 4.5 skeins of Chunky by Malabrigo Yarn (Bulky, 100% Wool –Merino, 100 yds / 91 m per 100 gr), colorway: 123 Rhodesian
One US 11 / 8 mm circular needle (or size to obtain gauge), 32 “/ 80 cm or longer, stitch markers, tapestry needle
Gauge
11.5 sts x 20 rows = 4 x 4 “/ 10 x 10 cm in stockinette stitch (after blocking)
Finished size after blocking (wingspan x depth)
76 ” / 190 cm x 20 ” / 50 cm
The instructions are fully written out. No charts in this pattern.
ERRATA
Current version is 2019 v.2
- Under material it should read 455 m instead of 55 m
- Some stitches were written out oddly, like “k7, k1, yo …” - I changed this to “k8, yo …” - the stitch count is the same
- Parasol Stitch Pattern section ends with “In the following WS row remove the stitch markers as you come to them”
