75 yds of a weight 4 yarn (I used Crafters Secret in Cobalt Blue)
60 yds of a Baby Velvet— a Weight 4 (I used Bernat Baby velvet in Blue Skies) MUST BE A THIN VELVET OR PAIR WITH A THICKER WORKSTED YARN
Polyfil
3.5mm hook

Abbreviations
Sc: single crochet
Inc: increase- sc twice into the same stitch
Dec: decrease- sc two stitches together
MR: magic ring
MC: main color
FO: fasten off
Ch: chain
Notes:
● Because there is a lot of variation when it comes to weight 4 yarn, be careful when choosing your baby velvet. For example, I have used Bernat Baby Velvet and Baby Crushed Velvet, both of which were either thinner or the same thickness as the worsted yarn I paired them with. If you use a thicker velvet, this leads to a change in shape-- the velvet portion ends up cupping around the worsted section.
● The body of the sea star is worked in continuous rounds, but each arm is worked in rows
Finished star measures approximately 5.5 inches from the center of the star to the tip of each arm. this size will vary depedning on yarn and tension
