Colorful Phoenix Wings is a crocheted shawl worked from the bottom up. Any weight yarn can be used from fingering to worsted depending on how large you want the shawl to be. You can use just 2 colors, or as many colors as you like!

Short-rows in crochet create the colorful feathers. Back Loop only single crochet gives the shawl a delightfully stretchy and bouncy fabric.

In light fingering weight yarn this shawl measures 64” wide and 23” deep. I used 1300 yards of Zauberball in the colorway Tropical Fish for both the border color and feather colors by starting each ball from a different color.

In DK weight yarn, the shawl measures 76” wide, and 28” deep using a size H 5.0 hook. I used 1.5 100g balls of black for the border, and 6 additional colors of Sheepjes Colour Crafter DK. Total yardage used was 1250.
