Phyllis Market Bag
The Phyllis Market Bag is made with a combination of tapestry crochet and mesh stitch.
It has a lot of possible uses! Take it with you in one of you trips to the yarn store and fill it with beautiful yarn! A towel, a book, sunscreen, a crochet/knitting project and off you go to the beach or the park. A trip to the market? this bag is perfect to carry your baguette, a bouquet of flowers and a couple of veggies!
The PDF contains written instructions, pictures to guide you through the most important parts of the making of the bag and a chart for the tapestry design. Even though it was written to be as beginner friendly as possible, you need to know the basics of tapestry crochet!
The approximate size of the bag not in use:
(keep in mind that the mesh stitch is a stretchy stitch and the height of the bag will increase in use and vary according to the weight of the content. Do not put too much weight in the bag as this wasn’t designed to be a gocery’s bag!)
H – 35 cm / 13,8 inches
L – 32,5 cm / 12,8 inches
W – 6 cm / 2,4 inches
L straps – 20 cm / 7,9 inches
W straps – 2 cm / 0,8 inches
BUT you’ll find in the PDF instructions to help you make some adjustments to fit your personal preference (number of mesh stitch rows, lenght and width of the straps). You can also make something entirely different and only use the tapestry design to make a clutch, a drawstring bag, a laptop cover, a pillow cover, etc.
You’ll need a category 2 (fine) cotton yarn.
You’ll need 3 skeins for the color A, 1 skein for the color B and 1 skein for the color C.
You can find the brands and color codes of the yarns used in the PDF.
I hope you’ll enjoy using the design for this and other projects!
