Meet the Piaf Jacket, a 1940s-1950s inspired cropped jacket / bolero named after the wonderful singer Edith Piaf!

This DK weight garment is a great throw on piece when you need to add one more layer for those cool summer evenings. The design is intended to be sharp, tailored and sophisticated, just like the items coming out of the Paris fashion houses in the decade following WWII. While the stitches are straightforward, there is more than meets the eye when it comes to construction. This jacket uses three different cast on methods throughout as well as kitchener stitch, the hem stitch and a facing layer, in order to obtain a seamless but still structured finished. And on that note, yes! There is no setting in sleeves here, nor are there any seams apart from the quick whipstitch around part of the garter edging.

Like always, my garment patterns use a body measurement x gauge system of pattern writing, making them fully size inclusive and tailored to your personal measurements. There are plenty of resources at Squid School to get you started on this method of pattern instruction!
