Pick-a-pattern Mitts
Check everyone off your gift list with their own unique pair of fingerless mitts. This pattern gives you the basic instructions for two sizes of fingerless mitts. You choose the stranded colorwork design from 5 different options and any number of colors. Pattern also includes instructions for turning your fingerless mitts into traditional mittens.
This pattern is accessible to even the novice stranded colorwork knitter. The thumb gusset area is worked in only one color so no trying to juggle floats while you’re working the gusset. And, I’ve included a handy chart you can use to check off each row on the thumb gusset for accuracy. It’s a great way to learn the basics of mitten construction without getting bored on a solid mitt.
The pattern will cover most adult hands. If you need something bigger or smaller than written, use a larger or smaller needle. Woolstok is a gauge shifter and can accommodate many different needles. Sizes 4 and 5 were chosen so the finished fabric would be relatively dense.
Yardage/weight required:
MC -- 30 grams or about 75 yards
CC -- 15-20 grams or about 35-50 yards depending on whether you choose 1 CC or 2.
