Surround yourself with the bold, sweeping beauty of the desert. “Pico Mundo”, or “land of peaks”, is a striking shawl inspired by the gradually shifting colors and rustic texture of Noro Geshi. This single-ply yarn is more flexible than most, allowing a seamless transition from plain stockinette to chevrons without bunching. Its slightly thick-and-thin texture and flecks of tweed add interest to a simple stitch pattern, while five-corner shaping plays tricks with the long color repeats to morph from a lazy gradient to short stripes as you knit. Generous yardage means you can make this roomy, comfortable shawl (with an open front and a slightly larger back) using just a single skein!

ERRATA: Special thanks to The Yarn Patch in Crossville, TN and to Ravelry knitters Lison and Susan for assisting with corrections. Version 2 reflects a few minor changes, including:

In section 1. Garter Stitch Tab Cast On in the final row, (yo, pm) has been corrected to (yo, p1).

In the Chevron Chart (Written Instructions), “sk2p” has been corrected to “s2kp”.

Section 3. Chevron Section and the Chevron Chart have been revised for clartiy; yo’s are now included in the chart, rather than the section 3. Chevron Section instructions.
