Growing up in an apple orchard, we made a lot of pie. My mom and my sister and I would spend endless hours slicing, mixing, baking and generally making a mess. We all wore aprons to save our clothes from being caked in flour, apple bits, etc. It was an imperfect system (most of the time we still got dirty) but the apron became a more of a comfort and a symbol of us getting down to business. When the apron went on, it was time to bake.

This is a simple pattern that makes a great gift. It is easily customizable and there are instructions included for optional pockets. It is also a good way to utilize some worsted weight cotton that seems to be abundant in most knitter’s stashes.
