This is a slouchy beret-style hat with a lace motif that swirls up to the top. The hat is worked from the brim up. The smaller needle is used for the brim and a larger needle for the rest of the hat, depending on how slouchy you’d like it to be.

The lace design is most visible in a fairly solid colored yarn - I would recommend a wool or alpaca blend. Cotton makes a cute, if bumpier-looking, summer choice.
