Piglet in a Blanket
This Piglet in a Blanket is an Amigurumi make using double knitting (DK) yarn. It varies from a conventional make in that the head and body are crocheted in one piece from the top down.
It is worked by making the ears and nose first. The head is then crocheted, the ears and nose added as well as the facial features. The body is then crocheted immediately on from the head so there is no sewing of the head to the body.
Yarn used is double knitting but any type of yarn can be used as the gauge is not important. Just vary your hook size appropriately.
You need a small amount of contrasting yarn for the ears and tip of the nose. I chose a dark pink, you will need about 4g. The head and body are all in one colour which had to be a piggy pink(!) and uses approximately 10g of yarn. The blanket is crocheted in rows in a contrasting colour and uses about 12g. Apart from the yarn you need a small amount of embroidery cotton for the facial details and some stuffing..
It’s great for a stash buster but you could easily make several from one ball of DK yarn and could vary the colours.
Why not make a sparkly one for Christmas…
