From ‘Knitting Out of Africa’: Diamond and zigzag patterns in Zairian cloth that was woven, embroidered, and plant-dyed have inspired the allover Fair Isle patterning on this cropped pullover. The sweater is knitted in the round in a single piece from cuff to cuff, with steeks along the lower body and neck edges. The knitted stitches are secured along the steeks, then the piece is cut open and the raw edges are concealed with knitted facings. The dolman shaping on the sleeves provides a comfortable fit and allows the zigzag pattern of the upper sleeves to flow seamlessly into the diamond pattern on the front and back.
