I used US #6 to get this gauge, because I am such a loose knitter.
Use #7 or even #8 to get the correct gauge.

This is a great project for advanced beginner who is willing to take on a challenge. It might be frustrating in the beginning, but once you get it, it will be easier. Completing this project will give you confidence as a intermediate knitter, and a beautiful piece to add to your home.
