Pina colada
This close fitting top is shaped with bust darts and side shaping. The peplum should float comfortably over jeans and is mirrored in the floaty sleeves. Since this is designed with no ease to ensure a snug fit, check out the measurement diagram before deciding which size to make.
The yarn, sadly, is now discontinued but possible alternatives may be suggested through www.yarnsub.com. Do remember to check your tension with a swatch.
The top is worked in stocking stitch starting at the peplum. Stitches are then picked up and the top worked in one piece to the armholes, divided into Front and Back and finishes at the shoulder with the sleeves knitted on as an extension of the Front and Back. The shoulders are joined together (grafted, Three Needle Bind Off or cast off and sewn) and stitches picked up to finish off the neck.
There are a few slightly tricky techniques such as short row shaping and Three Needle Bind Off, but still may be one to try for a relative newbie especially with the invaluable aid of a good yarn shop or a knitting buddy.
