The Pine and Cones Blanket features an all-over diamond lace pattern with a bottom border of pine and cones lace. Sides and top border are knitted in garter stitch.
The blanket uses basic lace stitches to form a pine tree pattern at the bottom edge and diamonds for the main part of the blanket. The cones are knitted using a traditional Estonian stitch called Nupp, similar to a bobble. This blanket is full of Nupps, which I used to give more texture to my chunky lace blanket. So, why not learn a new stitch?
SKILL LEVEL: Intermediate.
Stitches used: Yo, k2tog, ssk, nupps with a garter stitch border. The pattern comes with written instructions and charts.
MATERIALS REQUIRED:
• 30 x 50 g balls (1500 m or 1650 yds), using Drops Eskimo/Snow 53 (Light Grey colour shade) yarn.
You can use any other substitute yarn as there no need to follow the gauge for this blanket.
• 1 Circular needle 10.00 mm x 100 cm (US 15).
You can use your chosen, according with your yarn, your knitting style, and how tight you want your blanket to be.
• 1 Tapestry needle.
GAUGE (tension): 7 sts and 12 rows = 10 cm (4”) measured over Garter st, blanket being blocked, using 10.00 mm (US 15) needle. NB Gauge is not crucial for this pattern.
MEASUREMENTS AFTER BLOCKING:
154 (length) x 190 (width) cm (60 1⁄2 x 74 3⁄4 ins) using recommended yarn and achieving the given gauge.
NB Your size depends on your gauge.
One size, but the pattern can be customised by using larger/smaller needles and thicker/thinner yarn.
