Pine Point Pullover
A nod to Maine’s original flag, the tree motif on this pullover is knit using the intarsia method, which can be left off if desired. One of my most favorite things about woolen-spun yarns like Peace Fleece is the way they bloom to fill the spaces in and around the stitches worked at a slightly looser gauge, creating a soft, sweatshirt-like fabric.
With or without intarsia, classic or oversized fit, ribbed neck or roll neck, cropped or regular length—this simple pattern offers plenty of options to make the sweater uniquely yours, and is a great choice for any skill level, especially beginners. While it’s written for knitting flat in rows (including the sleeves!), it is easily modified to work in the round instead, if using a single color.

Yardage note: Body length is adjustable. Every 6 rows added will adjust length by about 1.25” {3 cm} and will require an extra 28 (31, 34, 38, 41, 44, 48, 51) yds {26 (28, 31, 35, 37, 40, 44, 47) m} of MC yarn. See notes in pattern for guidance on intarsia placement.
CONSTRUCTION NOTES
Pullover is worked flat in pieces from the bottom up, beginning with a ribbed hem, and intarsia on the body front. Selvedge stitches on body and sleeve pieces are worked in garter stitch. Front and back are worked from hem to shoulders, then neck and shoulder shaping are worked at the same time, with options given for a ribbed neck or roll neck. Once body is complete, shoulders are seamed and sleeves are picked up from the armholes and worked flat, down to the ribbed cuff. After body and sleeves are seamed, neck trim is picked up and worked in the round.
