Pine Tree Sweater
The Pine Tree pattern is a beginner friendly lace pattern, with only in- and decreases every second round/row (knit rows). The body of the two sizes are worked with 14 (16) repeats respectively. Further adjustments in circumference can be made by changing the gauge slightly up or down.
Charts are included in the pattern with directions for pattern placement and decreases at the V-neck.
The Pine Tree Sweater with a V-neck is worked in the round bottom-up. At the yoke, the sweater is divided into front pieces and the back with stitches bound off at the underarm for the armhole. At the yoke the back and two front pieces are worked back and forth separately in pattern. The sleeves are worked in the round bottom-up.
The shoulder seams are knitted together, and the sleeves are sewn in. At the end stitches are picked along the neckline for a ribbed V-neck.
Yarn
All Day from Gepard 100 % organic merino wool, 50 g = 175 m/ 191yards.
7 (8) skeins; shown in color # 712
Kid Seta from Gepard 70 % super kid mohair, 30% silk, 25 g = 210 m//230 yards.
5 (6) skeins; shown in color #812
Both yarns held together throughout
Needles
3.5mm (US 4) and 4.5mm (US 7) 80 cm (32”) circular needles for the body.
For the sleeves; either a second 3.5mm (US 4) and 4.5mm (US 7) circular needle for ’Working with two circulars’ or set of 3.5mm (US 4) and 4.5mm (US 7) double-pointed needles (dpns). A circular needle 4.5mm (US 7) 40 cm (16”) may be used for the sleeves, but be aware of the gauge, as the use may tighten the yarn.
Gauge
18 sts x 26 rows = 10 cm (4”) in pattern using 4.5mm (US 7) needles before washing with both yarns held together.
Body and sleeves will increase approx. 10 % in the length after washing in this combination of pattern and yarn, the increase is considered, in the specified lengths of body and sleeves.
Sizes
S/M (L/XL)
Finished Bust Circumference 109 cm (43”) (124 cm (51½“))
Length after washing approx. 66 cm (26”) (67 cm (26½”))
The Pine Tree sweater is designed to have a positive ease of approx. 10 - 20 cm (4” - 8”). Further adjustments in circumference can be made by changing the gauge slightly.
