Pineapple Grocery Bag
Why should grocery bags be plain? Hook this pretty bag in a weekend. From its striking flower base through its simple pineapple sides up to its practical handles, this bag will carry your groceries in style.
The bag is worked from the bottom up according to three simple charts - one for the base, one for the sides and one for the solid top and handles.
The dimensions are 13”/33cm across the top x 10”/26cm deep (excluding handles) when empty. The handles are 20”/51cm long. This size is intended to replace a standard plastic grocery bag.
I’ve made the bag in fingering (AUS 4ply) and sport (AUS 5ply) weight cotton yarn. One of my test crocheters used a light DK weight (AUS 8ply) and that was great too. The resulting bag was just a little larger.
Thanks loads to my test crocheters Julie, Melissa, Muz and Christine for their very pretty efforts and great feedback.
Please message me if you spot any errors or you’d like a hand.
Happy hooking!
Update:
There was a small error on page 1 of the pattern. The instructions should read ‘Then repeat rows 10-13 once’ (not 11-13 as in the original).
I have updated the pattern in version 2 published 6 April 2018. I hope this hasn’t discombobulated anybody.
Thanks Melissa. Well spotted!
