To begin with, the pattern is written throughout for a 6-point star which means that for a 5-point star there is one repeat too many; it should read : Repeat 4 times (not 5).

Start with 5 ch (not 6) and join. At Rounds 4 and 5, the chain is too short and the correction is : 5 ch. At Rounds 6 through 10, the correction is : 6 ch. Rounds 11 through 15 are unchanged with 6 ch. And Rounds 16 through 21 unchanged with 7 ch. Round 22 reads : ‘’(3 tr, picot, 3 tr) in next space; Repeat * to .’’ Instead, try : 3 sc, picot, 3 sc all around. Doily will then lie flat with delicate look to finished edging.
