Pines
Inspired by the forests flanking the mountains as seen from my kitchen window, Pines uses cables to evoke a pine tree. A doubled brim keeps your ears gloriously warm. Instructions for a single brim are included if that is your preference. The ribbing on the brim flows into traveling cables that move aside to allow space for the pine tree’s branches to grow. The cabled trunks lead into the crown with final shaping that mimics the crossing of the cables. The instructions for the body of the hat are entirely charted.
The Pines hat is designed by Jessica McDonald as part of the design collection for our 11th annual Red Scarf scholarship fundraiser! All proceeds from the sale of this pattern through December 31, 2021 are applied directly to our scholarship fund, administered by Foster Care to Success.
This Red Scarf scholarship pattern is knit in Bare Naked Wools Festivus 6.0 Worsted (Merino/Cashmere/Silk) in the limited-edition, custom colorway Rudolph. A portion of yarn sales go directly to the scholarship fund.
Please note this pattern has written instructions for the brim only; the hat body is charted. Any pattern support is supplied by Jessica McDonald. Substituting yarn and/or needles may result in an overall variation in size, drape, or yardage requirement.
