My 3 year old daughter loves to collect pine cones, name them, and take them home. Living in an apartment in the city we were only able to collect them on our nature walks, so this habit was manageable. When we moved into a lovely old house complete with a massive pine tree in the backyard, I found myself surrounded by pine cones quite quickly. Its no wonder I started sketching out pine cone themed designs…

Pinetrails are a pair of DK weight mitts, suitable for advanced beginners and beyond. The central pine cone motif is formed with simple lace stitches. These are a quick knit; perfect for transitional seasons and milder winter weather.

Materials
-135 yards of DK weight yarn. Samples used Arbor by Brooklyn Tweed (100% wool) & Silk Blend by Manos del Uruguay (70% Merino wool/ 30% Silk).
-3.5mm & 3.75mm DPNs or long circular for magic loop.

24sts & 36rws = 4” in St st
