Pink Lemonade is named for the cheerful yellow to pink gradient of the White Birch Fiber Arts skein of baby alpaca yarn it is knit from. It is a simple pattern with a stunning result. A six round repeat with twisting increases and decreases creates a spiral of cables nestled into ruched panels. This is cowl is simple and spectacular, and perfect as a holiday gift for a special friend.

This project is perfect for that special skein of gradient yarn, although it can be knit using a spectacular single color held double with a strand of mohair for a polished look that highlights the drape of the spiral.

DIMENSIONS
22” (55cm) around; 15” (37.5cm) long.

YARN
460 yards (420.5m) of fingering weight yarn at approximately 4.4 yards (4m) per gram. Easily modified to use more or less yarn depending on your special skein!

The sample was knit using one 489 yard (447m) skein of White Birch Fiber Arts fingering yarn in 70% baby alpaca / 20% silk / 10% cashmere in the sun yellow to pink gradient.

I recommend a base that contains similar fibers to get a superior drape and softness.

Would also work well with Emma’s Yarn in Silky held with Emma’s Mohair, or Blue Brick Husky in Huron MCN.

NEEDLES
US 6 (4mm) circular needle, 24” (60cm) long cable, or size required to obtain gauge.

NOTIONS
4 stitch markers with a unique marker for BOR
Cable needle
Tapestry Needle
Blocking materials

GAUGE
24 stitches and 32 rounds per 4” (10cm) in stockinette

Gauge isn’t crucial for this project, but variations will affect final circumference of the cowl as well as the amount of yarn used
