This hat is actually a nostalgic item. I think every Russian kid had a similar one when I was growing up. I have a photo of me wearing just such a hat. This hat is also very practical. Because the linked stitches create more windproof fabric than the usual Double Crochet.

2 balls of Knit Picks Swish Worsted in Ballerina

Tapestry needle to weave in the ends.
